Concerns Chiropractic Care Treats

Back Pain
Restricted lumbar segment, locked facet joint, or a disc shift with muscle guarding. The strongest evidence base for chiropractic care of any condition we treat.
Treatments+
Specific spinal adjustment paired with soft-tissue release and a home exercise plan.
Causes+
A single restricted lumbar segment, locked facet joint, or disc shift, with surrounding muscles tightening to splint it.
What every appointment looks like.
Every step is shaped by your spinal exam, pain pattern, and history.
Your chiropractor takes your full history: when the pain started, what makes it worse, what you have tried. The exam covers posture, range of motion, joint palpation, and neurological screening when symptoms travel. The first 30 minutes are assessment. No adjustment happens before it is finished.
Details+
- • Pain onset, pattern, and aggravating factors
- • Posture, range of motion, joint palpation
- • Neurological screening (reflexes, strength, sensation)
- • Imaging review if you bring it

When Chiropractic Isn't the Right First Call
Red flags: see your physician first
Numbness or weakness progressing down an arm or leg. Loss of bladder or bowel control. Severe sudden-onset pain after a fall, motor vehicle accident, or impact. Back or neck pain with fever or unexplained weight loss. Headache with vision changes, slurred speech, or sudden severity unlike any prior one.
We screen at intake
Your chiropractor screens for red-flag presentations at intake. If anything in your history calls for it, the recommendation is to see your physician first. Then return for chiropractic care once the underlying cause has been ruled out or treated. Appropriate scope of practice, not a hedge.
Sometimes physio or RMT is the better start
Patterns driven by weak deep-abdominal stabilisers, weak glutes, or poor lumbopelvic control often respond better to physiotherapy as the lead modality. Patterns driven by chronic muscular holding often respond better to registered massage therapy first. Your chiropractor will tell you that directly at intake if it applies.
Three CCO-registered chiropractors. One assessment-first standard.
Three Doctors of Chiropractic in Vaughan, all registered with the College of Chiropractors of Ontario. Each chiropractor examines independently. Care is coordinated when your case calls for more than one of us: chiropractic adjustment paired with soft-tissue work, or chiropractic care alongside physiotherapy when the assessment finds both a joint and a movement-deficit driver.

Steps to your first consultation.
Step Two
The first appointment runs forty-five minutes. The first thirty are assessment: history, range-of-motion testing, joint-by-joint palpation, orthopedic and neurological tests when warranted. Your chiropractor explains what was found before any technique is selected.
Step One
No referral required. Book at essentialchirormt.janeapp.com or call 905-856-2299. Same-week appointments are typically available.
Step Three
A typical acute case responds over four to six sessions across three to four weeks. Chronic patterns take eight to twelve. Your chiropractor reassesses regularly and adjusts the plan based on how your tissue is responding. Not on a pre-purchased package.

Your shoulders are concrete by 3 PM. The knots never fully release. Tension that keeps returning has an underlying cause, assessment finds it.

I've been a patient at Essential Health for over a year. The whole team is fantastic. Dr. Becky takes her time, explains things clearly, and never rushes the appointment.
