Concerns Lumecca IPL Photofacial Treats

Sun Damage & Dark Spots
Flat brown spots from cumulative UV exposure on the face, hands, decolletage, and shoulders. Lumecca targets the melanin clusters directly, with spots darkening within forty-eight hours and shedding over one to two weeks.
Treatments+
Broad-spectrum IPL targeted to melanin in damaged surface cells. Six to eight progressive-energy passes per session, reading the skin between each pass. One to two sessions for discrete spots; four-week interval between sessions.
Causes+
Years of UV exposure accelerate melanin deposit in surface keratinocytes, which is why the hands, chest, and shoulders show photodamage earlier than habitually covered areas. The pigment clusters do not clear on their own once the damage is cumulative.
What every Lumecca appointment looks like.
Each step is dialled to your skin type, the concern you came in for, and how the skin reads on the day.
Crystal reviews your history, current concern, medications, recent sun exposure, and prior treatments. She types your skin on the Fitzpatrick scale, photographs the treatment area, and differentiates the pigmentation pattern. Where skin type warrants it, a small test patch is run before the full session. Candidacy and a realistic course of one to three sessions are confirmed before treatment begins.
Details+
- • History, current concern, recent sun exposure, photosensitising medications
- • Fitzpatrick skin typing and pigmentation differential
- • Photo documentation of the treatment area
- • Test patch protocol when skin type or pigmentation pattern calls for it

When Lumecca Isn't the Right First Call
Reschedule or defer
Tanned skin within four weeks, recent isotretinoin use, photosensitising medications, pregnancy, active herpes outbreak in the treatment area, and active skin infections are all reasons to reschedule or skip. Melasma is treated only under a specific protocol because IPL can trigger a rebound where pigment returns darker. Fitzpatrick V to VI carries a higher risk of pigment changes; alternative approaches are usually safer.
We screen at intake
Crystal screens for skin type, pigmentation pattern, recent sun exposure, and medications at every consultation. A test patch is run when skin type or pattern warrants it. If anything in your history calls for it, the recommendation is to see your physician or a dermatologist first. Then return for Lumecca once the underlying cause has been ruled out or treated. Appropriate scope of practice, not a hedge.
Sometimes a different aesthetic modality is the better start
Cases dominated by laxity rather than pigment respond better when Morpheus8 leads. Surface-only concerns sometimes resolve with medical-grade skincare and dermaplaning before any device is needed. Pigment patterns that look like melasma are referred to a dermatology consult before any light is fired. Crystal will tell you that directly at intake if it applies.

Steps to your first consultation.
Step Two
Your first appointment runs a full skin analysis plus, where appropriate, a first treatment in the same visit. Crystal types your skin, photographs the treatment area, differentiates the pigmentation pattern, and confirms candidacy before any pulse is fired. A full-face session runs thirty to forty-five minutes once the assessment is clear.
Step One
No referral required. Book at essentialchirormt.janeapp.com or call 905-856-2299. Same-week consults with Crystal are typically available.
Step Three
Follow-up sessions are spaced about four weeks apart. Most discrete sun damage resolves in one to two sessions. Diffuse uneven tone typically takes two. Established rosacea or stubborn vascular patterns often need three sessions four weeks apart. Crystal photographs at every visit and sets the realistic count at assessment, not from a fixed package.
