Diastasis Recti in Vaughan
Postpartum abdominal separation that doesn't close on its own. Our physiotherapist runs the assessment and the load-progression rehab; prenatal-trained RMTs and pregnancy-modified chiropractic care round out support when needed. The plan is built on what your gap and function actually look like.
Where the concern starts.

How We Treat Diastasis Recti
Diastasis Recti rarely comes from one structure. We coordinate across three treatments — the right combination depends on your case. Rami Singh MScPT measures the width and depth of the separation, evaluates pelvic floor function, and tests core muscle activation patterns. From there a rehab programme is built around the deep core, transverse abdominis and pelvic floor retraining first, then progressive loading once activation patterns are reliable. No generic core circuit, no sit-ups or crunches in the early stages.

Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy
Diastasis recti commonly co-exists with pelvic floor dysfunction. When the deep core and pelvic floor are not coordinating, abdominal pressure pushes outward rather than being contained. Rami's pelvic floor certification covers internal and external assessment when clinically appropriate, with consent and privacy as the default starting point.

Progressive Loading
Once the deep core is activating correctly, Rami introduces loaded movements that challenge the abdominal wall without overwhelming it. The goal is functional strength that supports daily life, lifting, and exercise. For postpartum patients, return-to-activity timelines are discussed based on clinical findings. For male patients, the programme addresses the lifting mechanics that contributed to the separation in the first place.

I've been a patient at Essential Health for over a year. The whole team is fantastic. Dr. Becky takes her time, explains things clearly, and never rushes the appointment.
